How can I check or change my RaceFans user name?

Your RaceFans user name is the unique name associated with your account which you chose when you first registered.

To check what your user name is, log in and pull down the Profile menu where it displays your name at the top-right.

Your display name and user name appear in large letters underneath. Your user name appears on the second line beneath your display name.

Your user name is individual to your account and cannot be changed.

How can I check or change my RaceFans display name?

Your RaceFans display name is a name associated with your account which appears when you post a comment.

To check what your display name is, log in and pull down the Profile menu where it displays your name on the top-right.

Your display name and user name appear in large letters underneath. Your display name appears on the first line above your user name.

To change your display name, log in and pull down the Profile menu where it displays your name at the top-right. Click on Edit My Profile. Choose the name you want under ‘Name’ and click ‘Save changes’.

Note it is possible for two or more RaceFans users to have the same display name, but they cannot have the same user name.

How can I change the password for my RaceFans account?

Log in and pull down the Profile menu where it displays your name at the top-right. Click on Settings. Enter your new password twice under Change Password and click Save Changes.

If you are waiting for an email containing a password and haven’t received it, remember to check it hasn’t gone into a spam or junk email folder by mistake.

How can I get a picture (avatar) next to my name on RaceFans?

Log in and pull down the Profile menu where it displays your name at the top-right. Click on Edit My Profile, then Change Avatar. You can upload and crop your avatar here.

If you added an avatar using Gravatar before October 5th 2011 you may find it no longer appears on the site. If so, follow the steps above to restore it.

How can I show which drivers and teams I support?

Log in and look for the Profile menu at the top on the right-hand side where it says ‘Hi, username’. Click on Edit My Profile, then F1 Teams and Drivers to make your choices.

How can I delete my RaceFans account?

Warning: Deleting your account is permanent. Once you have deleted your account it will be impossible to recover it.

To delete your account log in and look for the Profile menu at the top on the right-hand side where it says ‘Hi, username’. Select ‘Settings’ from that menu. On the next page select Delete Account. Follow the instructions on that page to delete your account.

How can I inspect what data I have shared with RaceFans?

To receive a copy of the data you have shared with RaceFans:

  • Log in with your RaceFans account
  • From the user menu (top-right of the screen) select ‘Settings’
  • Select ‘Export Data’ and follow the instructions

Can I use images from RaceFans?

No. The majority of images on RaceFans are used with the permission of different copyright-holders and RaceFans is unable to grant permission for the images to be re-used by third parties for website, social media or any other purposes.

Can I use other content from RaceFans on my website?

RaceFans publishes a daily round-up including a selection of links that might be of interest to RaceFans readers.

Why do you have adverts on RaceFans?

Adverts raise revenue for RaceFans which is essential to keep the site running. Without this income we could not pay for hosting costs, site development and all the other costs that go into producing content for RaceFans.

If I use an ad blocker, do you still receive revenue from ads?

No. Ad blockers prevent the ads from being displayed and stop RaceFans from being able to earn revenue from them. Most ads raise revenue by being displayed, regardless of whether users click on them.

Please do not use ad blockers to prevent RaceFans displaying ads and raising the revenue it needs in order to keep running.

If you would prefer to browse the site without having to see ads you can become an RaceFans supporter. This costs £1 per month (or the equivalent in your currency) and will remove all ads when you browse the site. See here for more information:
